A new scholarship program from the San Diego Surf Academy will give underserved youth a chance to catch some waves. The "Waves of Opportunity" program seeks to break down financial barriers that prevent many young people from experiencing the physical and mental benefits of surfing, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. The Waves of Opportunity scholarship, KUSI News reported, will cover the costs of surf lessons, equipment, competition entry fees, and travel expenses for selected participants.
