After a nearly two-year closure, the Botanical Building, one of Balboa Park's most iconic landmarks, will reopen to the public on May 18, according to the Balboa Park Conservancy. The extensive project addressed critical structural repairs and improvements to ensure the long-term preservation of the historic building and its extensive plant collection. Overseeing Balboa Park, the San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation stated that the renovations included replacing the building's aging wood
